Operating outcome

Operating through distress or restructuring

Completed a one-day prepackaged Chapter 11 on February 24, 2021, backed by majority owner Sycamore Partners, cutting about $450 million of debt with every store open. A second, out-of-court deleveraging on July 24, 2024 handed control to lenders KKR and Hein Park.

The July 2024 deleveraging shifted controlling interest from Sycamore Partners to lenders KKR and Hein Park; Belk continues operating its department stores under that lender ownership.
